A tray made for your space
Bespoke sizing is at the heart of what we offer.
Whether you have a large ottoman, a narrow coffee table or a space where our standard sizes don’t quite work, we can make our trays to a wide range of custom dimensions.
As a general guide, we can make trays up to approximately:
- 90 x 90cm (35.4" x 35.4") for square trays
- 120 x 75cm (47.2" x 29.5") for high-profile trays with handles
- 100 x 60cm (39.4" x 23.6") for lower-profile trays
Very large or unusual sizes are considered individually to ensure the proportions and construction work well.

What can you customise?
Your bespoke tray can be based on any of our core designs:
Bella – Softly rounded corners with contrasting wooden pins.
Classic – Clean, straight edges with minimal detailing.
Reeded – Decorative reeded detailing with added texture.
Depending on the design, you can customise:
- Size and height
- With or without handles
- Oak, walnut, paint, stain or oil finishes
- Maple or walnut contrasting pins
Tray heights can generally start from around 2.1cm (0.8"), with taller sides possible up to around 9cm (3.5").

How bespoke ordering works
1. Tell us what you need
Send us your required dimensions together with your preferred tray style, timber or colour and whether you would like handles.
If the tray is intended for an ottoman or coffee table, you are also welcome to send us a photograph and the furniture dimensions.
2. We confirm the details
We will check that the size and specifications will work with our construction methods and advise you if we recommend any changes.
For adaptations of our standard Bella, Classic or Reeded designs, drawings are usually unnecessary.
For completely new or more complex designs, we may provide additional dimensions or drawings for approval where appropriate.
3. We send you a quote
Bespoke pricing depends on the size, material, finish and specification of your tray.
Once everything has been agreed, we will send you a quote and payment details.
4. We make your tray
Your tray will be handcrafted in our Hertfordshire workshop to the agreed specification.
Bespoke orders normally take approximately 1–2 weeks, although particularly large, unusual or more complex projects may take longer.
More than an ottoman tray
Over the years, customers have asked us to adapt our trays for all kinds of spaces and uses.
We have created bespoke trays for cutlery drawers, A4 paper in-trays, deep trays for displaying watch collections and extra-tall trays designed to sit over a hob and create an additional flat surface.
We have also produced one-off designs with alternative handle cut-outs, thicker sides and brass handles.
These projects are considered individually and not every idea will be suitable for our construction methods, but if you have something particular in mind, we would love to hear about it.
Bespoke colours & finishes
Alongside natural oak and walnut, we can also produce trays in custom-painted and specialist wood finishes.
For painted trays, you can choose colours from Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Dulux or RAL references. Bespoke paint colours usually carry an additional charge, depending on the finish.
We can also offer selected specialist finishes, including fumed or aged oak, Rubio Monocoat and Osmo oils.
If you would like a particular stained or oiled finish, please send us the exact product and colour reference. We cannot reliably colour-match existing furniture by eye, as timber species, grain, age and previous finishes can all affect the final result.
Bespoke Tray FAQs
Can you make any size tray?
We can produce a wide range of bespoke sizes, but every tray needs to remain structurally suitable.
As a general guide, our maximum sizes are approximately 90 × 90 cm for square trays, 120 × 75 cm for higher-profile rectangular trays with handles and 100 × 60 cm for lower-profile designs.
If you require something outside these dimensions, please ask and we can advise.
Can you make a tray to fit my ottoman exactly?
Yes. This is one of the most common reasons customers order a bespoke tray.
Send us the dimensions of your ottoman and, ideally, a photograph and we can help you choose suitable tray proportions.
Can I choose a custom colour?
Yes. Alongside our standard colours, we can work with many recognised paint references including Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Dulux and RAL colours.
A bespoke colour usually carries an additional charge.
Can you match the stain of my existing furniture?
We cannot guarantee a colour match based on photographs or samples because timber and finishes vary considerably.
However, if you know the exact stain or finishing product used and the timber, we may be able to apply the same finish to your tray.
Can I customise the tray height?
Yes, within practical limits.
Our lowest tray profiles are approximately 2.1cm (0.8"), while taller sides can be made for certain projects. We have previously produced trays around 9cm (3.5") high.
Can you make something completely different?
Possibly.
We occasionally take on one-off designs or modifications such as alternative handles, deeper sides, thicker timber sections or unusual tray functions.
These projects are assessed individually depending on the design, materials and construction required.
Are bespoke trays returnable?
Because bespoke trays are made specifically to your chosen dimensions and specification, they are non-returnable unless faulty.
We therefore recommend checking all measurements carefully before placing your order.
