Design Aesthetic

My design aesthetic is deeply rooted in everyday experiences. I draw inspiration from architecture, nature, and art, always looking for the subtle details in my surroundings that can inform my creative work.

Whether it's a piece of historical architecture or a moment in nature, I constantly scan my environment for unique elements that can elevate my designs.

From Childhood to Career

My love for design began early when I transformed spaces and created tablescapes for my family. The passion deepened as I worked alongside my father, who ran a fine finish and historical restoration company. His dedication to craftsmanship and attention to detail greatly influenced my career.

Influential Designers & Artists

The influences are vast, from the timeless elegance of antique markets and vintage shops to the artful simplicity of mid-century modern furniture. I find inspiration in the work of those who, like me, embrace the beauty of blending old and new, traditional and contemporary.

Designing for Emotion

Design is about creating an emotional connection between the space and its inhabitants. Whether I'm designing a private home or a commercial space, my goal is to evoke a sense of place that resonates deeply with those who experience it.

Personal Touches

I'm a great believer in the importance of personal connection; I collect items during my travels that reflect my journeys. These unique pieces – from Turkish rugs to Belgian textiles – become part of my home and work, offering a tactile memory of the places I've visited.

A Memorable Purchase

One of my most cherished purchases is a small brass hotel bell I found in a vintage shop in the English countryside. Every time I tap the bell, it transports me back to that moment, symbolising the joy of travel and the power of memory in design.

Final Thoughts

Haley McLane's design philosophy is all about balancing the old with the new, blending history with modern sensibilities. My work reflects my personality—dynamic, versatile, and always thoughtful. I bring this approach to every project I take on, ensuring that each space is not only beautiful but deeply connected to the people who inhabit it.
