Martelo and Mo & Charlotte Bucciero - Holwell
Charlotte Bucciero is a French-born, Dutch-educated and English-based Interior Designer. We were commissioned to collaborate with Charlotte last summer on a beautiful bespoke vanity cabinet for a lovely client in Hatfield, Herts.
The objective was to create a beautiful, timeless vanity unit that ties in with the overall design aesthetic of the client's property and design and create a piece of furniture that was not only attractive to look at but also functional.
We have asked Charlotte about our collaboration, how she started her interior design studio and the inspiration for this project.

Design Inspiration
The bathroom design was based on the main architectural feature of this room - the original curved window. Looking out of this stunning window whilst using the basin or bathing was vital in our spatial layout decision-making.

This apartment has beautiful period features running throughout all of its rooms. This new bathroom design was to match this grandeur with soft wall colours and marble touches.
The soft pink walls contrast beautifully with all the greenery this location is surrounded with, and the dark wood finish sits perfectly with the marble details throughout the room.
Bespoke Furniture
Once the bathroom layout was established, A bespoke vanity unit was designed to fit the room at its best. It was important that the vanity unit fitted inside the deep window ledge, which could only be achieved with a bespoke joinery piece. We maximised the storage space while keeping the feel of the unit light and delicate on lifted legs, allowing the floor to continue underneath. Complimentary materials in marble and brass were chosen for the bathing facilities, floor and wall tiles.
Project Favourites
Definitely the vanity unit! This stunning piece of furniture is the key piece one sees whilst entering the bathroom. The natural wood grain is shown through the deep dark paint finish, which is beautifully paired with a beautiful marble top and subtle modern yet classic brass handles.

Collaboration
Working alongside Martelo & Mo for this bathroom design was an absolute joy. The whole team cared about the smallest details, which made all the difference in a piece of joinery. The result is a custom-made vanity cabinet we can all be proud of!
